2008 Beijing Olympics Update: USA WINS!!! 101-70
The Men’s USA Basketball Team took the first step toward their quest for Gold this morning by defeating China 101-70.
China was pumped at the beginning of the game but the U.S. eventually wore them down. Dwyane Wade and LeBron James led the way with 19 and 18 respectively.
I was surprised with China’s overall play. NBA players Yao Ming, Yi Jianlian and Wang Zhi Zhi did their thing but I was especially impressed with the newest Los Angeles Laker, guard Sun Yue and forward Zhu Fangyu.
Good job USA!!!

China played a good first half, but in the 3rd quarter they took too many outside shots instead going in more to Yao Ming. These missed shots turned to easy shots for the U.S. and the game quickly got out of hand. I don’t think there is any team in the Olympics that will beat the “Redeem Team” this year.
If they don’t win this Gold, Kobe and LeBron might as well play in Europe for $50 million.
