49ers RB Frank Gore Out For The Season With A Fractured Hip
According to NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora, San Francisco 49ers running back Frank Gore will be out for the season after a diagnosed fractured hip.
Gore left the Monday night game against the Arizona Cardinals early in the first quarter and never returned. He left University of Phoenix Stadium on crutches.
Gore, who has 853 yards rushing on 203 carries on the season as 4-7 San Francisco tries to stay in the NFC West’s meek race, had nice gainers of 25 and 15 yards on the opening possession but spent most of the first half on the sideline, sans helmet.
Brian Westbrook, the Philadelphia Eagles’ former running back, replaced him and rushed for 136 yards and a touchdown in the 49ers’ 27-6 victory.
Looks like Westbrook will be taking over for him as the starter and rookie Anthony Dixon will get some carries as well throughout the rest of the season.
