According to CSNBayarea.com, the San Francisco 49ers today announced they have released S Michael Lewis.

“I want to thank Michael for his hard work and leadership as a 49er,” said head coach Mike Singletary. “We wish him and his family all the best.”

As a member of the 49ers, Lewis appeared in 50 games, totaling 381 tackles, 4.5 sacks, three interceptions, five forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and 23 passes defensed.
