49ers Rookie RB Anthony Dixon Not Happy With His Performance Against The Vikings

San Francisco 49ers rookie running back Anthony Dixon has been impressing offensive coordinator Jimmy Raye and coach Mike Singletary so far this preseason. Singletary said after Sunday’s game with Minnesota, his biggest disappointment was they weren’t able to run the ball.

Running backs Frank Gore and Brian Westbrook did not play in the game, as Dixon carried the load with 20 rushes for 51 yards and a touchdown.

“I think if there’s a reason he had happy feet,” Singletary said. “If there’s a hole he’ll hit it. But sometimes even if there isn’t a hole, you still gotta hit it.” Dixon was critical of himself after the game though. “I have to know how to take three or four yards sometimes,” he said. “I want to break a big run for the team so bad that I wasn’t doing what I was supposed to.
