#5 Cincinnati Bearcats To Start Backup QB Vs Louisville

Zach Collaros at quarterback against Louisville.
Starting quarterback Tony Pike wasn’t in uniform before Cincinnati’s game. Pike hoped to be able to play on Saturday, four days after he had surgery to repair a plate in his non-throwing forearm. He was on the field for warmups, but was dressed in a sweat suit instead of a uniform. He had a cast on his left forearm.
Chazz Anderson will be the No. 2 quarterback.
Collaros, a sophomore, is mobile and has the experience of replacing Pike when he was injured against South Florida. Collaros ran for 132 yards and two touchdowns.
Last season Cincinnati won the Big East despite being forced to use five quarterbacks. Pike broke the left forearm last season, had a plate and six screws inserted, and returned after missing two games. The Bearcats are hoping he’s back next Saturday at Syracuse.
This season, Cincinnati has the nation’s fourth-highest scoring offense at 40.7 points per game.
