QB Brian Johnson and the Utah Utes shocked the college football world by upsetting the mighty Alabama Crimson Tide in the 2009 Sugar Bowl.
Johnson threw for 336 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Utes to a 31-17 win over the SEC runner-up Alabama Crimson Tide. Johnson spread the ball around pretty well but his top target was senior wide receiver Freddie Brown finishing with 12 catches for 125 yards.
Nick Saban and his Crimson Tide were literally shut down the entire night. The Utes held SEC leading rusher Glen Coffee to just 36 yards on 13 carries.
The only real bright spot for the Tide was a 73-yard punt return for a touchdown by junior cornerback Javier Arenas.
Utah Utes are now really on the map after defeating not only a national power but a top SEC team, which most consider the best conference in college football.
Congratulations Utah Utes!!!
