Alabama In Negotiations With Football Coach Saban

Alabama officials and head football coach Nick Saban are in negotiations on a contract extension.

Sources familiar with the negotiations said the discussions are in the preliminary stages and centered more on increasing the length of Saban’s contract than handing him a large raise.

Saban is entering the third year of an eight-year, $32-million deal that made him college football’s highest paid coach at a public institution at the time he accepted the job in January 2007.
