Auburn QB Cam Newton Has Great NFL Combine, Struggles Throwing
Auburn Tigers quarterback Cam Newton what some believe to be a good day and some may see it as a bad day, depending how you look at it.
Newton’s numbers looked great, finishing with a 40 yard-dash time of 4.58, a 35-inch vertical jump and a 10′ 6″ broad jump but the 2011 Heisman Trophy Winner did not throw well at all only connecting on 11 out of 21 attempts.
“It was a pop quiz, and he didn’t ace it,” Newton’s QB coach, George Whitfield, Jr. told USA TODAY’s Jim Corbett. “But his final exam is in a week and a half.
“He was off on some of his accuracy. With some regularity and more work, he can correct that. … I’m just really proud of him for coming out today. He didn’t score a knockout. But at least he put on the gloves.
“Some guys didn’t.” ~
Personally, I don’t care how inaccurate Newton was today, when he puts on the pads, he’s a beast!
Newton’s Pro Day is scheduled for March 8th and the scouts will look to see if he will give a better showing in the accuracy department then.
