Bengals WR Terrell Owens Says He “Could Care Less” About The Hall Of Fame
the NFL’s most productive receiver over the course of his career and is likely to conclude it as a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. According to Nate Davis of USA Today, Owens says he “could really care less”.
“People they tend to say well, ‘You’re gonna be here one day,’ ” Owens said. “Of course, from a statistics standpoint, then yeah, I’ll be here.”But there are going to be a lot of things that probably factor into that. A lot of people are probably going to bring up reputation, character, things of that nature, and honestly, I could really care less. When I started playing this game, football wasn’t my first love — I didn’t have that passion the way some guys grew up to have that passion for the game of football. My passion was basketball, and I think God has put me in a position and gave me enough gifts and talents to play the game.”So I basically just kept working at it, working at it and things happened for me. So if I get in, I get in; if I don’t, I don’t. It’s not a big deal. I think that the best thing for me is just to really be proud of what I’ve accomplished being that I almost quit football when I was in high school.”
Owens says he is focusing on this year and not looking beyond that point. Given the drama perpetually surrounding him, Owens would prefer to let his resume do the talking.
“As long as I’ve made my family proud, and I feel like I’ve done what I can do in the NFL, my talents and my numbers speak for themselves. Other than that, I didn’t start start playing this game to get into the Hall of Fame.”
