Bills Rookie RB C.J. Spiller Named The Starter
Buffalo Bills head coach Chan Gailey announced Wednesday that rookie running back C.J. Spiller will be his start the season opener against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.
The Bills drafted Spiller ninth overall in this year’s draft despite having former Pro Bowler Marshawn Lynch and backup running back Fred Jackson on the roster.
Spiller earned the starting role by rushing for 122 yards and three touchdowns during the preseason including a spectacular 31-yard run against the Colts.
Both Lynch and Jackson were slowed by injuries during the preseason.
