Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert’s open letter to Cleveland fans will cost him more than just a star player. Gilbert was fined $100,000 for comments made about his former franchise player LeBron James.
Gilbert wrote the open letter the night that James decided to choose Miami over the Knicks, Clippers, Bulls, Mavericks and his former team, Gilbert’s Cleveland Cavaliers.

time to stop buying tickets, with players and jesse jackson running the nba the owners need to take their money and retire. before they jackson starts to shake down the NBA like nascar.
we need to remember that we the fans control salaries by ticket purchases. wanna watch basketball get out kids off tv and video games and go to the neighborhood park.
Lets get one hundred thousand fans to send in one dollar each to send a message that freedom of
speach is still alive.
David Stern is doing this ungrateful NBA owner a favor by taming him with only 100k fine. Imagine the multimillion dollar defamation lawsuit Lebron could easily win if he went after this hypocrite owner. That franchise is showing us why they didn't deserve to have the face of the nba. LeBron loves Cleveland, but did Cleveland ever really love him back? Love is "unconditional", and Cleveland is showing us that they only loved Lebron on the "condition" that they owned him and that he continued to bring them riches for another decade. He's now with a true classy organization. Hey Cleveland, you wanna see true love and how you're suppose to handle this type situation? Look no further than when Zo ditched us after we paid dude over 100million while he played no basketball during his kidney issues. Pat and Mickey Arison didn't say a negative thing about Zo, instead they praised him with words and actions that continue to this day. Because everything Zo did for this city should never be overlooked or pissed on, instead it should be honored regardless of where he wants to bounce a basketball.
What? Get 100,000 fans to send a dollar for his fine. First of all this idiot make more than enough to pay his own fine, which was of his own making. What? Show them that free speech is still alive. Defamatory speech isn’t protected as free speech(p/u a Constitutional Law Book). Gilbert’s feelings were hurt so he wanted destroy LeBron’s character. Pay the fine and move on!!!!!
You're a retard. You need to stop writing responses until you have facts. There was nothing racial in his letter to the fans and you must have same IQ as Jesse Jackson to make an idiotic statement. Cleveland loved, adored and admired LeBron James and he hung that franchise out to dry on something he and his peeps planned for years. He had no maturity to come forward and tell the owner and fans what his actual plans were and Cleveland had no time to react for other free agents. What Dan Gilbert said about LeBron is exact and Lebron is a total coward. He will live with that ridiculous, hour long embarassment for the rest of his life. As far as you, get your facts before you make senseless, untrue comments
Good grief talk about the lack of reading comprehension. Where exactly did I implement race in any way shape or form in my post? Even if I had mentioned race how would that be considered "not getting my facts straight? For someone who seems to be fixated on FACTS, you actually managed to do the exact opposite by writing an entire post that's filled with nothing but far fetched opinions that do nothing but justify your hate. Since you pretty much displayed your lack of knowing(should have just placed a period here) the difference between fact and opinion, let me break down your post that is seemingly starving for actual facts.
Exhibit A: "Cleveland loved, adored and admired Lebron James" (OPINION). Response to exhibit A: Yeah you guys are doing a bang up job showing everyone just how much you loved Lebron. Your actions are actually in fact proving that you only loved what Lebron could do for you. If you really "loved, adored and admired" Lebron, you would "love, adore, and admire" all the things he did for your city and franchise. My final opinion is that your love for Lebron was materialistic and very very "conditional".
Exhibit B:" He hung that franchise out to dry on something he and his peeps planned for years". Response to Exhibit B: Ya know that for a FACT huh buddy. This one is almost too easy to tear apart. Two things, (a) You have absolutely no idea of when Lebron decided to leave, you only have your slanted opinion to base that off of. (b) Sorry if you had your eyes closed, but this was no secret special ops mission. The whole world knew he was a FREE AGENT in 2010, which meant "ding ding ding" that he could go to another team.
Exhibit C:" He had no maturity to come forward and tell the owner and fans what his actual plans were and Cleveland had no time to react for other free agents" Response: You are entitle to your opinion, but that's all it is, your opinion not a fact. I'm trying to stretch my to think which NBA free agent out of all the hundreds out there, informed the bleeping fans what their free agent plans were going to be before deciding where they were going to sign. Anyone? His contract told you and your franchise what his plans were, to be a free agent in 2010 and decide what team he wants to commit himself to. Dude do you even know your own team's cap space situation. You don't have max money without even without Lebron. The day Lebron told the world of his intentions, only the big name players that you couldn't even afford (Amare, Wade, Bosh, Johnson, Gay) had decided on their destinations. Unless you think it's wise to sign a bunch complementary players without a star to complement. I demand the list of free agents that Lebron caused you to miss out on.
Exhibit D: "LeBron is a coward" Response: Opinions flying all over this place. The FACT of the matter is that your hypocrite of an Owner still had a 127millon dollar contract on the table of this so called coward. In fact I would go as far to say it took an ridiculous amount of COURAGE to leave the place he called home his entire life. There's nothing cowardly about stepping out of your comfort zone to embrace a new challenge that gets ridiculed by everyone. Actually you should dream to have LeBron's courage sir.
"As far as you, get your facts before you make senseless, untrue comments" Please specify the fact lacking, senseless, and untrue comments that I have made. I will try my best to make sense of my comments to you.
P.S. That show was only ridiculous to the jealous loosers who missed out on LeBron. To us, that was easily one of the top t.v. moments in Fla sports history. Look at our past, present, and future actions, and we will show you what real love is.
i must agree with you,we as fans control what we spend our money on.BUT theres too much money out there for these guy's to make,{SHOE DEAL'S),,,,,WHAT CAN WE DO?and for Dan,he was wrong for what he said,it happen's all the time.is it ok to trade a guy to another team?well i think it is because they do it all the time,BUT,whats wrong with a guy signing with another team???Lebron was wrong for the way he did it???BUT i would have never left the cavaliers.Thats just me.
