Broncos WR Eddie Royal Getting Expanded Role In Denver
Denver Broncos wide receiver Eddie Royal went from a 91-catch, near-1,000-yard season in 2008 to less than 400 yards in 2009.
Head coach Josh McDaniels said this week that he puts some of the blame on himself.
“When we evaluated things, we came to the conclusion that we didn’t do near a good enough job of getting involved,” McDaniels said.
“We think he’s capable of doing a lot of things in our offense.” In McDaniels’ offense this year, Royal will be moving from an outside receiver spot to the inside, or “slot” position. It’s a move that he thinks will be beneficial. “Things are different this year,” Royal said. “I’m learning a new position, going to play a new position. I’m learning a lot of little things and some big things. But I think it should be able to all pay off during the season.”
