Browns Hire Pat Shurmur As New Head Coach
The Cleveland Browns have decided to hire St. Louis Rams offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur as their new head coach on Thursday.
Shurmur was the quarterbacks coach for the 10 years before coming over to St. Louis to be the offensive coordinator in 2008 before taking on the challenge of being an NFL head coach.
Rams star running back Steven Jackson racked up another 1,000-yard season in both of Shurmur’s years as the team’s main offensive man. Young wide receivers Danny Amendola and Brandon Gibson along with tight ends Daniel Fells and Billy Bajema each posted new career highs in receptions in 2010.
Shurmur also used his quarterback coaching skills to help develop rookie quarterback Sam Bradford, who had a great season almost leading the Rams to the playoffs.
