Browns Sign Former Eagles TE Alex Smith

The Cleveland Browns have added a much needed weapon to their offense by signing free agent tight end Alex Smith to a one-year deal according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Smith has been a bit of a journeyman player since being selected in the third-round (No. 71 overall) of the 2005 NFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Unable to match the success of his rookie season, Smith has since played for the New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles.

Smith will try to fill the void left by Buccaneers tight end Kellen Winslow.
