Browns WR/KR Joshua Cribbs Becomes NFL’s Kickoff Return TD Leader
is now the NFL’s all-time leader in kickoff return touchdowns with eight after posting two touchdown returns in the first half at Arrowhead Stadium Sunday.
His seventh was one of his best yet, and his eighth stands as his longest, a 103-yarder that’s the second-longest return in Browns history.
“That record, that’s amazing,” Cribbs said. “The NFL has been around a long time.”
Cribbs spun away from tacklers on two different occasions on his way to a 100-yard kick return touchdown with 3:56 left in the first quarter, giving the Browns a 10-3 lead.
His 103-yarder in the second quarter broke a string of 21 unanswered Chiefs points, bringing the Browns back to within 24-20. After breaking at least five (and probably more) tackles on his first touchdown of the day, he was virtually untouched on his second.
He did it against a Chiefs team that hadn’t allowed a kick return of more than 37 yards all season.
“Coach told us all week about that 37-yard stat,” Cribbs said. “That was our motivation going into the game, to beat that.
“The guys that block for me — Blake Costanzo, Alex Hall, Alex Mack — they pride themselves on that. We know we can score every time. Those scores kept us in the game. Our guys were ready for this task.”
