Chiefs Claims Former Patriots QB Gutierrez Off Waivers

The Kansas City Chiefs have claimed quarterback Matt Gutierrez off waivers from the New England Patriots.

In 2007, Gutierrez was an undrafted free agent out of Idaho State in 2007. He will compete with Brodie Croyle and Tyler Thigpen as the backups to his former Patriots teammate and new Chiefs teammate, starter Matt Cassel.

The Chiefs released Ingle Martin on Wednesday to make room for Gutierrez.
