Chiefs Offensive Coordinator Charlie Weis Leaving For Florida
Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Charlie Weis has reportedly taken the same position at the University of Florida.
The Sporting News first reported that Weis accepted the job on Saturday.
Weis was hired at Notre Dame five years ago after Florida head coach Urban Meyer turned the Irish down to come to Gainesville.
Weis has proven once again that his offensive play calling works wonders as his Chiefs currently lead the NFL in rushing, are ranked ninth in total offense and are on their way to the playoffs for the first time in years.
Weis will stay with the Chiefs throughout the postseason and will then head to Gainesville shortly there after.
The Gators new head coach, Will Muschamp, is a defensive minded guy and needed a strong offensive coordinator to run the offense at Florida. Muschamp wants to scratch the spread-option offense and go with more of a pro-style offense.
Weis replaces Steve Addazio, who took the head coaching job at Temple last week.
