Chiefs Trade All-Pro TE Gonzalez To The Falcons

.
The Falcons will send a second-round pick in 2010 to Kansas City in exchange for Gonzalez, the only tight end in NFL history selected to 10 Pro Bowls, the Chiefs announced.
Gonzalez caught 96 passes for 1,058 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2008. He owns NFL career records for tight ends with 916 receptions, 10,940 yards receiving, 76 TDs receiving and 26 100-yard receiving games.
Chiefs chairman Clark Hunt called Gonzalez “one of the finest players in Chiefs history.”
A person with knowledge of the negotiations said the Falcons have reached agreement with Gonzalez on a new contract. The person requested anonymity because the agreement has not been announced.

Good for Tony, he deserves to be on a team that's going in the right direction. He still has gas left in that tank too
That is something of a surprise, but he had been wanting to get out of KC to play for a winner. Good luck to Tony Gonzalez, who gives Matt Ryan another weapon on offense.
That's why I do my mock draft the night before or the day of, LOL.
Falcons are going to be a huge success this year.
This was a win win situation for the Falcons and Tony Gonzalez, but not for the Chiefs. They gave away their franchise player for a 2010 2nd round pick. That's like trading a Peyton Manning rookie card for a Ryan Leaf rookie card, it just doesn't make sense, so why do it. Hopefully they will draft Beckum from Wisconsin to replace him. They should've made ATL draft Beckum and do a draft day trade to at least make it look interesting and use ATL's pick instead of their own.
