Cowboys Begin Contract Talks With WR Dez Bryant
Contract negotiations between the Cowboys and first round draft pick Dez Bryant began Monday according to David Moore of the Dallas Morning News.
“We won’t have as much to go on,” executive vice president Stephen Jones said when the Cowboys concluded mini-camp last month. “We usually have a lot more contracts to go off of. That will make it more challenging.”
Eugene Parker represents Bryant and has had a good working relationship with the Cowboys in the past. Here are some numbers the two sides will consider:
Bryant was taken with the 24th pick of the first round. Atlanta took Peria Jerry at No. 24 in the 2009 draft. The defensive tackle signed a five-year, $13.25 million deal with $7.55 million guaranteed.
Receiver Percy Harvin went two picks earlier to Minnesota last season. He signed a five-year, $14.25 million deal with $8.4 million guaranteed.
