Cowboys K Nick Folk Job In Jeopardy?
did not express a whole lot of confidence in Nick Folk after Sunday’s 20-17 loss to San Diego that included a missed field goal for the fifth consecutive week.
Folk missed a 42-yarder in the second quarter with 45 seconds left that would have given the Cowboys a little lift heading into the locker room. He is no 3-for-9 in field goals over the last five games. His longest in that time frame: 36 yards. He had a 31-yarder on the Cowboys’ first possession of the game.
Asked if he was concerned about Folk, Phillips acknowledged that he was, which is as close as this coach gets to telling the media “RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!”.
“Well, certainly,” Phillips said. “Whatever it is, I’m not sure, but if you aren’t going to make all of them, you’ve got to make a certain percentage. He’s not making that certain percentage right now.”
Later, Phillips added the most damning words a coach can utter after a game: “We’ll look at all our options.” A coach (or manager) isn’t going to say a guy is going to be unemployed immediately after a game, but if he’s thinking it, you’ll get the “options,” line.
