Cowboys RB Felix Jones Wants To Do It All In Dallas

Running back Felix Jones wants to return kickoffs. He wants to carry the ball on offense. He wants to do whatever the Dallas Cowboys want him to do.
“I want to go out there and contribute to the team as much as I can,” Jones said Friday. “I’ll be a cheerleader if I have to. Whatever it takes to get that ‘W’ at the end of the game is good for me.”
Jones has averaged only 20.9 yards per kickoff return, and coach Wade Phillips said this week that the Cowboys are looking at Kevin Ogletree and Tashard Choice. In 16 returns last season, Jones averaged 27.1 yards, including a 98-yard touchdown.
“That’s another way to create a play,” Jones said, “and make something happen for your team. I love doing that.”
Jones had only four carries for 10 yards Sunday against Philadelphia. In the three games since returning from a sprained knee ligament, Jones has 20 carries for 86 yards and three catches for 36 yards.
“We feel like Felix is going to get more touches on offense,” Phillips said. “He didn’t have as many last game, but he’s really coming back from injury kind of like Marion [Barber] was. The healthier he gets, I think the more touches he gets on offense. Then, you want somebody else on the kickoff returns. So we’re kind of in between with him right now.”
Jones said his knee is “very close” to 100 percent, and he will continue to play with a knee brace to “strengthen the knee.”
