Dolphins S Gibril Wilson Fined $5,000 For Unnecessary Roughness

Miami Dolphins free safety Gibril Wilson has been fined $5,000 by the NFL for unnecessary roughness in Monday night’s win over the New York Jets. Oakland Raiders, Wilson was ejected and later fined for a hit to the face mask of Buffalo Bills‘ receiver Josh Reed.
Wilson, who was flagged for his helmet-to-helmet hit on Jets tight end Ben Hartsock in the third quarter of the Dolphins’ 31-27 win, incurred a 15-yard penalty on the play.
According to an NFL spokesman, Wilson was fined because he “unnecessarily struck a defenseless receiver.”
It’s the second time in as many seasons Wilson has been fined $5,000 for such an infraction. Early in the 2008 season, while with the
Wilson, who has struggled at times in his first year in Miami, led the Dolphins with 12 tackles in Monday’s win.

Defensive players sure are getting some harsh punishments handed down to them for doing what they're supposed to do. i think at this point it's becoming a problem. I've never know Gibril to go out and try and hurt someone, so I would say this is something that the league needs to address.
Even the fine on Ray Lewis' hit on Chad was excessive. SMH
