Eagles Fire Defensive Coordinator Sean McDermott

According to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, the Philadelphia Eagles have fired defensive coordinator Sean McDermott.

This comes as a shock to alot of people because head coach Andy Reid said that McDermott would return next season but less than a week later, he gets fired.

We know about Reid and him saying one thing and then changing it to another. Reid earlier in the season that Kevin Kolb would be his quarterback but changed his mind and said Michael Vick would be the starter.

McDermott did a great job with the Eagles defense this year finishing second behind the Baltimore Ravens in total yards per game, second in passing and fifth in rushing.

McDermott replaced the legendary Jim Johnson, who died of cancer in 2009. He adapted Johnson’s aggressive style of defense but injuries to key veterans forced McDermott to adjust his scheme in 2010.
