Eagles QB Michael Vick Named AP Comeback Player Of The Year

The Associated Press named Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick the NFL Comeback Player of the Year.

Vick, the first Eagles player to win the award, put together a stunning comeback in 2010, after spending two years in prison.

Vick began the season as Kevin Kolb’s backup, but got a shot to start on opening day when Kolb suffered a concussion against the NFC Champion Green Bay Packers.

Vick finished the 2010 season setting career highs with 3,018 passing yards, 21 passing touchdowns, a 62.6-percent completion rate and a 100.2 passer rating. He also ran for 676 yards and nine touchdowns, and turned in a number of memorable performances.

His best performace by far was his Week 10 outing against Washington on Monday Night Football. Vick threw for 333 yards and four touchdowns and rushing for 80 yards and two more scores.

He had another great performance just two weeks later when he led the Eagles as they overcame a 21-point deficit in a 38-31 win against the Giants.

Vick and the Eagles’ 2010 season ended with a second loss to Green Bay in an NFC Wild Card game.
