Eagles Sign Former Seahawks DE Darryl Tapp
As expected, the Eagles have agreed on terms of a three-year contract extension with newly acquired defensive end Darryl Tapp, a league source said.
Tapp had signed a low-level tender with the Seahawks yesterday before getting traded to the Eagles last night for Chris Clemons and the second of the Eagles’ two fourth-round picks. A few hours after the trade was finalized, the Eagles and Tapp agreed on contract terms.
Tapp averaged $675,000 per year during his four years with Seattle, including a base of $820,330 last year. Terms of his deal with the Eagles were not immediately available.
The source said the Eagles would not have finalized the deal for Tapp if they didn’t believe they could get a new contract done. It would have been very unusual for Tapp to play this year for the Eagles under the tender he signed in Seattle, although it would be possible.
Tapp has 18 sacks in four seasons since the Seahawks drafted him out of Virginia Tech in the second round in 2006.
