ESPN’s Chris Berman To Receive Pete Rozelle Award
ESPN host Chris Berman has been recognized as the 2010 recipient of the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Pete Rozelle Radio- Television Award.
The award recognizes long-time exceptional contributions to radio and television in professional football.
“I embraced pro football a long time ago,” Berman said. “I’m honored and humbled beyond belief, that pro football in turn, has embraced me.”
Berman, a six-time winner of the National Sportscaster of the Year award, has been with the all-sports network since 1979. The 2010 National Football League season will mark Berman’s 25th straight as studio host of ESPN’s Sunday NFL Countdown.
The sportscaster has an extensive resume, including having covered 28 Super Bowls with the first being Super Bowl XVI when the San Francisco 49ers won their first title.
Berman will receive the award on Friday, August 6 at Enshrinees Dinner to kick off Hall of Fame weekend. Members of the 2010 HOF class include Jerry Rice, Emmitt Smith, Russ Grimm, John Randle, Rickey Jackson, Floyd Little and Dick LeBeau.
