Falcons QB Matt Ryan Studying NFL’s Best Quarterbacks
Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan is well on his way to becoming one of the league’s elite quarterbacks. To help him get there, he’s taking a close look at the quarterbacks who are already at the top of the heap.
Falcons G.M. Thomas Dimitroff told Dennis Dillon of Sporting News that Ryan has been spending a lot of time this offseason examining the best quarterbacks in the league and trying to emulate them on the field.
“Matt Ryan is developing very well in my mind,” Dimitroff said. “He has worked very hard in the offseason to study what he deems as his issues, whether it was his decision making at times, whether it was his footwork, or whatever it was. . . . [Ryan] studied a lot of the upper-echelon quarterbacks in this league and I think that was very beneficial for him as well.”
Asked if it’s true that as Ryan goes, so go the Falcons, Dimitroff said that sounds about right to him.
“I am a firm believer, like a lot of people in this league, that you go as your quarterback goes,” Dimitroff said. “Not to put it all on one individual, because it is a team game, but it is very important for your quarterback to perform at a very high and consistent level to be successful in this league. If that answers your question, I guess you’d have to say true.”
