Five Hurricane Football Players To Compete In NCAA Track Regionals

University of Miami football players Travis Benjamin (pictured above), Brandon McGee, Lamar Miller, Cory Nelms and DeMarcus Van Dyke made the field for the NCAA East Regional track meet, to be held Thursday-May 29 in Greensboro, N.C.

Under the first-year format being used for the 2010 NCAA Outdoor Championships, the top 48 declared athletes in each of two regions were accepted into the field to compete. The top-12 finishers in each event at the two regional sites will qualify for the Outdoor Championships, which will be held June 9-12 in Eugene, Ore.

Football players Travis Benjamin, out of Belle Glade Glades Central; Brandon McGee, out of Plantation High; DeMarcus Van Dyke, out of Miami Pace; Lamar Miller; and Cory Nelms run on UM’s 4×100-meter relay team. Nelms will also compete in the 110-meter hurdles.
