Five Teams That Need QB Vince Young
5. Seattle Seahawks- The Seahawks are looking for a “Young” guy to fill in for an aging Matt Hasselbeck and backup Charlie Whitehurst is not the answer. Head coach Pete Carroll knows what he can do after getting beat by Young and the Texas Longhorns in the 2006 Rose Bowl.
I think the Seahawks would be better off with Young than a rookie like Washington’s Jake Locker or Missouri’s Blaine Gabbert. Seattle could use their first-round pick on a much needed position such as wide receiver or a pass rushing defensive end.
4. San Francisco 49ers- The 49ers have been longing for a franchise quarterback. The fans in San
Francisco have been off the Alex Smith bandwagon for years now and have been waiting for a shot at another great quarterback and this is their chance. Smith has already said he wants out of San Francisco so this opens the door for them to kick Smith out and bring in Young
The only question I have is whether the new coach in San Francisco would like to have Young on the team. It looks like the 49ers are going hard for Stanford head coach Jim Harbaugh and he may not be a big Vince Young fan, otherwise, he would be a great fit in the bay area.
3. Miami Dolphins-The only AFC team outside of the Buffalo Bills that could use Vince Young’s services. The Bills will have a shot at a top quarterback in the draft and with Gabbert and Locker being two cold weather college quarterbacks, I see them fitting in better than Young would.
The Dolphins seem to like Chad Henne but with a possible coaching change in Miami, the personnel may change as well. Young is a much better player than all the Dolphins quarterbacks put together and would I believe would work well with running backs Ronnie Brown, Ricky Williams and former AFC Pro Bowl teammate Brandon Marshall.
2. Arizona Cardinals- The Cardinals have three options at quarterback, but two of three are very young and are extremely inexperienced. Derek Anderson had one good year in 2008 with the Cleveland Browns but has been awful since that year. John Skelton and Max Hall are the two babies on the roster and the better of the two is Skelton but he’s no match for Young.
Young and all-world wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald would be a great combination in Arizona and could
bring some excitement to a stadium that could use a big name player, especially since the loss of names like Anquan Boldin, Karlos Dansby, Antrel Rolle and the great Kurt Warner. There’s nothing wrong with bringing in Young to push Anderson, Skelton and Hall for the starting role in Arizona.
1. Minnesota Vikings- Everyone knows that Brett Favre is done in Minnesota and the Vikings don’t seem to have alot of confidence in Tarvaris Jackson, so who’s left? Joe Webb? Nah, he’s not an NFL starter by any means.
Young would be crazy not to go to Minnesota and vice versa. He already has wide receivers, a very good running back and a tremendous defense. Adding a quarterback like Young, who’s been winner since his days at Texas, should be a great fit on the turf in the Metrodome.

So, what is the deal with Young? He has streaks of brilliance, a rifle arm and good mobility, but he seems very temperamental, inconsistent and prone to disruptive and distractive issues. I think a team like the Seahawks would be well serviced by a focussed and committed Vince Young, at least for a few years while they plug several gapping holes on both sides of the ball and find a true project QB in the later rounds of the draft this year or next. But not if it means bringing a potentially toxic personality into the locker-room.
No on Young going to the Niners. Absolutely not. The guys a prima donna. We've had enough of those.
I don't know who yet. But I do know who not to get. No on Young.
As a Niner fan, I'd rather go with Kerry Collins. And I'm not a big fan of Collins.
Iam no doctor….and I dont play one on TV….but I have played Dr before…anyway!!! If you ask me its more than "prima donna" syndrome…Many football player deal with bi-polar issues and other mood disorders…I have studied the topic and see many characteristics in V Y….It will take a strong head coach and lots of patients to make him a successful QB….but a QB whose a leader in the locker room, NEVER…because of the emotional issues…He has spurts, but will never be consistent…Sorry!
