Florida CB Janoris Jenkins Decides To Stay For His Senior Year

Florida Gators cornerback Janoris Jenkins was expected by many to enter the 2011 NFL Draft but after meeting with new Florida coach Will Muschamp, Jenkins has since changed his mind and is now going to return to Gainesville for his senior season.

Jenkins also needs shoulder surgery which could have affected his preparation for the NFL Draft including the combine and individual workouts. Jenkins was projected to be a first-round or second-round pick by many but a bad combine would have surely knocked his draft stock down.

This was a smart move by Jenkins because he would have three other top notch cornerbacks to compete with. LSU’s Patrick Peterson, Nebraska’s Prince Amukamara and Miami’s Brandon Harris are among the top of this year’s class and with Jenkins coming back, he would be college football’s next Patrick Peterson and be the top cornerback for the 2012 NFL Draft.

Jenkins is a three-year starter with eight interceptions and was a first-team All-SEC pick in 2010.
