Florida QB Trey Burton’s 6 TD’s Leads Gators Over Kentucky 48-14

Trey Burton set a Florida record by scoring six touchdowns in one game, as the ninth-ranked Gators rolled to a 48-14 win over Kentucky for their 24th straight win over the Wildcats.

Burton, a freshman, scored on each of his five rushes and also caught a touchdown pass from John Brantley for the Gators, who have won 24 straight regular season games.

Burton is the fourth player in SEC history to have six or more touchdowns in one game and the first since Cadillac Williams (2003), who played for Auburn.

“There’s no magical story behind No. 8. He played very well,” Florida coach Urban Meyer said. “We’re not trying to give him the ball; he’s just taking the ball. He’s executing some option football. We’re getting the ball into hands of fast players.”

Brantley finished 24-of-35 for 248 yards with one TD and an interception for the Gators, while Meyer became the sixth fastest coach in NCAA history to reach 100 career wins.

Next up for the Gators is a game next Saturday night at top-ranked Alabama.
