Former Miami Hurricanes star defensive tackle Russell Maryland has been selected for the College Football Hall of Fame becoming the third Hurricane in five years to be selected (Bennie Blades, 2006 and Gino Torretta, 2009).

Maryland, a dominating defensive tackle on Miami’s 1987 and 1989 National Championship football teams, was unanimous All-America as a senior in 1990, he also was presented with the Outland Trophy that year as the nation’s top interior lineman.

Maryland will be inducted at the annual National Football Foundation and Hall of Fame Banquet held on Tuesday, Dec. 6 at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City.
