Former NFL RB Maurice Clarett Wants To Play In The UFL
Former Ohio State and Denver Broncos running back Maurice Clarett has gotten back into school and now he wants to play football again.
On Monday, Clarett, who led the Buckeyes to the 2002 national championship, has asked Franklin County Judge David Fais to leave the state to try out for the Omaha Nighthawks of the UFL.
In 2006, Clarett pleaded guilty to aggravated robbery and carrying a concealed weapon and served 3½ years in a Toledo prison.
Clarett’s attorney, Michael Hoague, said he was ready to make the most of the opportunity.
“Since he re-enrolled in summer-quarter classes at Ohio State, he’s been going to school and also working out each morning at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center,” Hoague said. “He looks really good.”
The Omaha Nighthawks are the newest UFL franchise that will debut this season. The Nighthawks already have former NFL stars such as well-traveled NFL quarterback Jeff Garcia and former Green Bay Packers running back Ahman Green.
Let’s see if Clarett will get an opportunity to join the Nighthawks for the 2010 UFL Season.
