Former Rams running back Marshall Faulk said he hasn’t been contacted about joining the group headed by Dave Checketts that is bidding to buy the team. But he said he’d welcome the chance to become a co-owner of that club.

“I don’t have any involvement as of today,” he said Sunday on “NFL Gameday Morning,” which airs on NFL Network. “I have not been contacted by Dave Checketts’ group. I have not talked to Dave Checketts at all about this.”

A report surfaced on ESPN.com last week that Faulk might be considered to replace Rush Limbaugh, who was dropped from the Checketts group amid much controversy last week. And Faulk, who has been a commentator for NFL Network since the beginning of the 2006 season, said he would be interested in having an ownership stake in the Rams.

“I would say yes, I would love to be a part owner,” he said. “… That would be a great honor, but I haven’t talked to them at all.”

But he’d like to.

“If Dave Checketts called me … I’d definitely listen to what he had to say,” Faulk said.

Eric Gelfand, spokesman for SCP Worldwide, declined to comment. Checketts is chairman of SCP, which owns the Blues among other sports, entertainment and media entities.
