Georgia WR A.J. Green Suspended For Four Games

Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver A.J. Green has been declared ineligible for four games after it was discovered that he may have received benefits from an NFL agent. The announcement comes the day after Yahoo reported that the Heisman Trophy Committee had all but decided to remove the Heisman from Reggie Bush.

Green reportedly sold his Independence Bowl game jersey to someone who met the organization’s definition of an agent.

Green promptly repaid the $1,000 that was paid to him to charity in an effort to make good of the situation. He released a statement saying that he apologized to his teammates and coaches who he felt that he let down. He also went on to say that there were games to play and that he didn’t want to be a distraction to the team in the coming days and weeks.

The University of Georgia will be appealing the ruling and will be looking to reduce the number of games that he is ineligible.
