The New York Giants are undefeated right now and I’m a strong believer in, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”, but in this case, I believe this about making the team stronger in the running game.

Backup running back Ahmad Bradshaw has proven game in and game out that he’s better than starting running back Brandon Jacobs. Jacobs has been in the media already this year about his poor performance this season and has said he would do better, well I’m yet to see him out perform Bradshaw in any game.

If you don’t believe me, here are the numbers and everyone knows, the numbers don’t lie:

Brandon Jacobs- 100 carries, 355 yards, 3.6 yard average and one touchdown
Ahmad Bradshaw- 58 carries, 375 yards, 6.5 yard average and two touchdowns

In all of my years of studying football, I’ve found that the best way to grade a running back is by their yards per carry and Bradshaw is killing Jacobs in that category among all the others.

Bradshaw has less carries, more yards and a threes per carry better average than Jacobs and he’s the second string back. Jacobs has yet to tally one 100 yard game this season and Bradshaw has two already. This guy deserves the start, he runs very well, catches very well and does all the things a starting back should do.

Head coach Tom Coughlin should start Bradshaw and make defenses chase him all over the field and then bring in Jacobs to pound them as they get tired late in the game. Doing this would also open up the passing game even more because if they decided to go play action with Jacobs or Bradshaw, they will always bite on the fake and be too tired to try to catch up to their wide receivers down the field.
