Giants WR Sinorice Moss Not Bothered By Rookie Victor Cruz’s Early Success
New York Giants wide receiver Sinorice Moss may have what some feel a tall hill to climb to beat out undrafted rookie free agent Victor Cruz out for the final roster spot on the Giants wide receiver depth chart but Moss says he feels no pressure at all.
“If I think about that, I won’t be able to do what I need to do on the field every day. So why think about numbers?” Moss said. “It’s not about numbers to me. It’s about me going out there every day and participating and making plays and showing this team what I’m capable of doing.”
Moss was fortunate enough to make the team last year because the Giants decided to keep seven wide receivers because they needed as many bodies in that position as possible.
This year the Giants could only keep six because they need bodies at other positions (quarterback and safety) this year and may need to let Moss go.
Looking at the roster, it looks like it will be Steve Smith, Hakeem Nicks, Mario Manningham, Derek Hagan and Ramses Barden with the sixth and final spot going to either Moss or Cruz and after that three touchdown performance against a tough Jets defense on Monday Night Football, Cruz seems to have the edge.
Another factor working against Moss is his salary. Cruz comes alot cheaper and with not living up to his second-round potential, its looks like Moss will end up on the short end of the stick .
Since Moss has been in league over three years, he can’t go to the practice squad so it looks like an outright release.
