High School Football: Miami Central vs Miami Northwestern on ESPN2

Jeffrey Godfrey, QB, Miami Central

Todd Chandler, DT, Miami Northwestern
Miami Central and Miami Northwestern have played many meaningful high school football games over the years.
But none like this.
Not with the nation’s eyes watching on television.
And rarely with the Rockets in position to reap the biggest reward.
Central (5-0), ranked No. 4 by the National Prep Poll, is favored to earn national powerhouse status Thursday night when it takes on Northwestern at 7:30 p.m. at FIU Stadium in a game that will be televised live on ESPN2.
Northwestern (3-1), a national champion two seasons ago, took a big drop in the national polls this week after losing to Miami Booker T. Washington on Saturday.
Although the game might have lost a little luster, neither team has lost any motivation.”That team over there [Northwestern] is great and there’s nothing about their team that isn’t competitive,” Central senior quarterback Jeffrey Godfrey said of his opponent. “In the playoff game [last year], we were just too relaxed. We just thought we had them and they beat us. We’re not going to take them lightly.”
