Hurricanes RB Javarris James Named Starter

In the University of Miami depth chart released Thursday, senior Javarris James is listed as the starter ahead of 2008 leading usher Graig Cooper for the Florida State opener Monday.

“I’m happy now,” coach Randy Shannon said. “You can never have too many running backs because injuries always happen. This has been the best Javarris has ever done at camp since he was a freshman. He hasn’t been nicked. He looks faster.

“Cooper is Cooper — he’s done a great job. And Lee Chambers has taken that next step. . . . Cooper and Javarris will be the two [main] guys, and other guys will be used when needed.”
