Jaguars Release Pro Bowl QB David Garrard

Jacksonville Jaguars Pro Bowl quarterback David Garrard, who has started for the team since 2007, has been released.

The Jaguars have decided on starting Luke McCown in the opener against the Tennessee Titans. The Jaguars drafted Blaine Gabbert, a rookie from Missouri, in the first round of this year’s draft so this move isn’t a huge surprise.

The 33-year-old Garrard, who was due a $9 million salary this year, threw for 2,734 yards in 2010, with 23 touchdown passes and 15 interceptions.
