Jaguars Will Retain Head Coach Jack Del Rio
The Jacksonville Jaguars will retain head coach Jack Del Rio for the 2011 NFL season despite finishing 8-8 and missing the playoffs this season.
Del Rio met with owner Wayne Weaver on Monday and will talk to the media on Tuesday.
Del Rio will be entering his eighth season as Jacksonville’s head coach and has an overall record of 65-63 with only two playoff appearances.
I believe Del Rio gets to keep his job because the expectations were low for this year’s team, especially with the talk of possibly losing the franchise, but the Jaguars beat the Colts early this season and showed Weaver that they are making progress climbing to the top of the AFC South late this season.
The Jaguars had an outside shot at winning the division in Week 17 but lost to the Houston Texans 34-17.
