New York Jets running back Thomas Jones rejoined his teammates Wednesday after boycotting voluntary workouts while in a contract dispute.

Jones, who led the AFC with 1,312 rushing yards last season, was on the field for organized team activities after sitting out the Jets’ previous six OTAs and minicamp.

The Pro Bowl running back is entering the third year of a four-year, $20 million deal, which was front-loaded with $13.1 million over the first two seasons. He’s scheduled to make $900,000 in base salary this season.

Agent Drew Rosenhaus announced last week on Twitter that Jones, 30, would attend the session Wednesday, but offered no further information whether an agreement on a restructured deal is in place.

The session was closed to the media Wednesday, but Jones is expected to practice Thursday and address the media.

Meanwhile, Pro Bowl running back-kick returner Leon Washington is still sitting out the Jets’ OTAs while also in a contract dispute. He hasn’t been at the Jets’ facility since the workouts began two weeks ago.

Washington is due to earn $535,000 this season, the final year of his rookie deal. He’s believed to be looking for about $6 million per year, similar to deals that Jacksonville’s Maurice Jones-Drew and San Diego’s Darren Sproles – players to whom Washington is often compared — have received.
