Jets To Sign Former Saints QB Mark Brunell

It looks like the long wait for Mark Brunell to join the New York Jets is finally coming to a close.

The veteran quarterback will sign with the team as early as Thursday according to Rich Cimini of ESPNNewYork.com.

It has been widely reported that Brunell and the Jets have been talking since early in the offseason and that a deal would be likely.

The Jets are unable to sign him until Thursday when the NFL’s “final eight” rule no longer applies.

He will serve as a valuable backup and mentor for second-year quarterback Mark Sanchez.
