Jets WR Braylon Edwards Catching Heat For Dropped Passes

New York Jets wide receiver Braylon Edwards took issue Wednesday with critics who say he dropped two passes in the last two games – an early third-down pass against the Patriots and the two-point conversion against the Jaguars.

“Oh, where I almost got my ribs broken?” he said of the latter play, claiming it wasn’t a drop because the shot he absorbed from safety Reggie Nelson.

Asked about the “tipped” pass he failed to secure against the Patriots, Edwards replied, “Oh, the tipped ball? Key words: Tipped ball.”

Edwards said his hands have been unfairly questioned because he led the league in drops last season with the Browns. He called that an aberration. For the record, Edwards wasn’t charged with any drops in his first five games with the Jets, according to STATS, LLC, which hadn’t graded last week’s game tapes as of Tuesday.

Despite the losing, Edwards said he’s happier with the Jets than the Browns.

“I knew the pits,” he said. “This is nothing like the pits.”
