Lakers G Jordan Farmar Agrees To Contract With The Nets

Former Los Angeles Lakers guard Jordan Farmar has agreed to a three-year, $12-million deal with the New Jersey Nets, his agent, Arn Tellem, confirmed to ESPN The Magazine’s Ric Bucher on Sunday night.

“Jordan will be an excellent complement to Devin [Harris] in the backcourt,” Nets president Rod Thorn said in a statement released by the team. “He comes to the Nets with championship pedigree, which will prove to be invaluable to his teammates.”

The agreement is contingent on Farmar passing a physical.

Farmar, 23, has career averages of 6.9 points and 2.1 assists and has made three trips to the NBA Finals, winning two championships, after spending all four seasons of his career in Los Angeles since the Lakers drafted him with the No. 26 pick in 2006.

The Lakers chose not to tender an offer to Farmar by the required end of business day deadline of 9 p.m. ET last Wednesday, thus making Farmar an unrestricted free agent.
