Lavoyda, Mother of Bears LB Brian Urlacher Dies

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher left the team this afternoon after learning about the death of his mother Lavoyda. She died Monday at her home in Texas. His status for the next few days is uncertain.

Urlacher had one the best performances in his career this past Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons after getting a diving interception in the first quarter and recovering a fumble and taking it in for a touchdown.

Bears quarterback Jay Cutler called Urlacher the “heart and soul” of the team and says he is irreplaceable. Cutler also tweeted, “Our thoughts and prayers going out to Brian and his family.”

Brian,

Very sorry for the loss of your Mother. You and your family are in our prayers.
The loss of a parent is a very difficult time for the ones left behind.
Be strong and know that She is is with God.

There are no words offered that can ease the pain, only prayers
