List Of First-Year Eligible 2011 NFL Pro Football Hall Of Fame Nominees
Jerome Bettis
Running Back
1993-95 Los Angeles/St. Louis Rams, 1996-2005 Pittsburgh Steelers
Bettis is No. 5 on the all-time rushing yards list and is No. 10 all-time in rushing touchdowns and what should get Bettis in on the first ballot is the Super Bowl ring he won with the Steelers in 2006.
Predicition: 2011
Curtis Martin
Running Back
1995-97 New England Patriots, 1998-2005 New York Jets
Martin should go in this year, but may go in behind former Rams and Steelers running back because he has no championships.
He’s fourth on the all-time rushing yards list. Martin was a very underrated back but quietly had a tremendous career, he just played in an era where Emmitt Smith and Barry Sanders took all the attention.
Prediction: 2012
Willie Roaf
Offensive Tackle
1993-2001 New Orleans Saints, 2002-05 Kansas City Chiefs
It’s going to take a while for Roaf to get in. There are other tackles that have been waiting to get in that have accomplished more.
Prediction: 2013
Deion Sanders
Cornerback, Kick Return and Punt Return
1989-1993 Atlanta Falcons, 1994 San Francisco 49ers, 1995-99 Dallas Cowboys, 2000 Washington Redskins, 2004-05 Baltimore Ravens
Sanders is the No. 1 guy on this list. He WILL get in this year.
He is the greatest cover cornerback and athlete to ever play the game. He also could be the best kick/punt return man in NFL history as well. Between his stats and multiple championships, he a sure fire first-balloter. Sanders in my opinion, is without a doubt the Greatest Football Player in NFL History PERIOD!!!
Prediction: 2011
Jimmy Smith
Wide Receiver
1992 Dallas Cowboys, 1995-2005 Jacksonville Jaguars
Smith, the Jaguars all-time leading receiver, has some off the field issues may hurt Jimmy Smith. Other wide receivers like Andre Reed, Tim Brown and Cris Carter are yet to get in and Smith hasn’t accomplished nearly what these guys have.
Predicition: 2016
Dick Vermeil
Coach
Philadelphia Eagles 1976-1982, St. Louis Rams 1997-99, Kansas City Chiefs 2001-05
Vermeil has two NFC Championships (Eagles and Rams) and one Super Bowl Championship in 1999 with the Rams that will help him get in but not this year, maybe next year.
Predicition: 2012
