Louisville Fires Football Coach Steve Kragthorpe

Louisville has fired head football coach Steve Kragthrope.  A press conference was held by athletic director Tom Jurich earlier on Saturday to discuss the move.

Kragthorpe was hired as the Louisville coach back in 2007 after 3 seasons with Tulsa.  Jurich was confident that he was the right man for the job at the time.  Jurich said he’d do the same over again if it came to hiring Kragthorpe again back then.

Unfortunately, three dismal seasons with a 15-21 record meant it was time for a change and Kragthorpe’s out.  According to ESPN.com, Kragthorpe inherited one of the Big East’s most successful football programs and “led them to the league basement”.
