LSU CB Patrick Peterson Wins Bednarik And Thorpe Awards
LSU Tigers junior cornerback Patrick Peterson cleaned up and the Home Depot College Football Awards on Thursday night as he walked away with the Chuck Bednarik Award as the nation’s best defensive player or otherwise known as the defensive Heisman Trophy and the Jim Thorpe Award, given to the nation’s top defensive back.
Peterson was widely regarded as the best cornerback in the country throughout the entire season, did a great job against some of the best wide receivers in college football during his career in Baton Rouge. In addition to having outstanding coverage skills, he also made his mark and tremendous kick and punt returner.
Peterson will more than likely enter the 2011 NFL Draft but if he decides to, he will be expected to be selected in the top 10 of the NFL Draft.
