Maryland To Interview Randy Shannon For Defensive Coordinator Position

According to Bruce Feldman of ESPN, former Miami Hurricanes head coach Randy Shannon will be interviewing for the defensive coordinator position at Maryland.

The Terps defensive coordinator position became available after Don Brown unexpectedly left the program to take the same position at new head coach Randy Edsall’s former school, the University of Connecticut.

Shannon was fired by Miami shortly after the season was over and has been tied to many jobs since his departure. He had been attached to possibly be the new head coach at Minnesota and Vanderbilt.

Shannon also was rumored to be a front-runner for the defensive coordinator positions at Texas and UCLA but have all since been taken by other candidates.

If Maryland were to hire Shannon, they would be gaining a huge asset. He could ultimately bring some Florida kids into program and since he knows the ACC and his former team very well, he would give the Terps an immediate adavantage.
